Ornella
Ricca was born in 1962 in Naples, Italy.
She started painting when she was 17 years old, after high school.
From the beginning she lived her art as a continuous search of intuitions
,experiments of techniques and materials to print on them the images of
her memories.
In 1980 she was in USA. She came in contact with Chicago and New York
artistic movement.
The frequents travels will be one constant in her artistic evolution,
source of new inspirations ,fundamental stages in her process of maturation
and increase. She's a careful observer and, she always shows a great desire
to know the surrounding reality , the past and the memory …
After a short pause, in 1982 , she was inspired to travel again ( Paris,
Barcelona, New York ,Boston ,Mexico City ,Cairo ,Bali ). she always came
back home to fix on paintings and wood her ideas .
In 1985 she started to experiment new three-dimensional geometrical shape
deriving from computer language .In 1994 she leaved the optical illusions
to start a new
pictorial period dedicated to the memory and its places. The memory and
the silence are the essential elements of Ornella Ricca's art.
In 1996 she realized pictures for a book about Vesuvius,
“L’ultimo Re “,published by Cuen and written by the
poet Carlo Procope.
In 1997 she realized book-cover and inside pictures for the book “Napoli
ad occhio nudo “ published by Cuen and written by Antonio Noto.
In1999 Ornella Ricca was inserted in the book “Arte Contemporanea
“ by De Agostini.
Ornella Ricca's art is a continuous research of “The Time of Being
“ that escapes from frantic rhythms ,refuses special effects ,denies
the myths created and destroyed in a single day , but identifies itself
with the silence, and the memory 's frame.
